Validation Exam Request

Policy

Moody Theological Seminary and Graduate School offers validation examinations to students with extensive personal study or other nontransferable learning who desire to earn graduate credit. Up to 25% of an academic program can be fulfilled with validation examination credit. Advanced standing credit and validation examination credit combined cannot exceed 33% of a program. A $100 fee is charged for each examination. Students must complete validation exams within their first two semesters (Fall and Spring). Validation exams must be completed before the start of the student’s final semester.

Process

  1. Complete this online form and your request will be sent to the relevant faculty member
  2. You will be contacted by the field chair, program head, or delegate faculty with details about the examination
  3. Once the results have been received by Academic Records, your advisor will contact you to inform you of any test credit received

Graduate Program Exam Limits

Up to 25% of an MTS program can be earned through validation exam credit. However, not all graduate programs permit validation examination credit. See the "Academic Policies" section of the academic catalog for more information.

Advanced Standing Credit, and Validation Credit combined cannot exceed 25% of a program.
